What’s better than drinking a beer while watching March Madness? Knowing that your money is going to a good cause! This March, a portion of all of our Corona and Corona Light purchases will be donated to the V Foundation. Better yet, our Corona vendor, Columbia, will be matching our contribution!

The V Foundation was founded by Jim Valvano and ESPN in 1993 in order to further cancer research. Valvano was a basketball player, coach, and broadcaster who was diagnosed with bone cancer at the age of 46. When accepting the inaugural Arthur Ashe Courage and Humanitarian Award at the 1993 ESPY Awards, he gave a legendary and inspirational speech. He announced the creation of the V Foundation, and told the audience to take time to laugh, think, and cry every day. He passed away 8 weeks later.

The V Foundation carried on Valvano’s legacy by providing grants to young scientists and physicians who are working on cancer research. They believe that by investing in these scholars early, we will discover the cure for cancer faster. The foundation has awarded more than $150 million to researchers around the country. 100% of their direct cash donations go toward these awards.
