The month of November brings The Moon of the Dog Salmon. Hunting waterfowl and game continues from the previous moon cycle, and the Moon of the Dog Salmon marks the beginning of shellfish harvesting, helping increase the food supply for the upcoming winter months. Traditionally, salmon is fished until the end of this moon and the last of the bracken fern roots and camas bulbs are harvested.
With this new moon, 13moons restaurant has introduced new savory, seasonal entrees to the dinner menu. Topping the menu is a succulent Duck Confit. Supplied by our friends at Maple Leaf Farms, each duck gets topped with a balsamic onion marmalade enhanced by a cabernet reduction. Another welcomed addition to the menu is the Roasted Beet entrée salad. Dried cranberries, aged buttermilk blue cheese, candied pecans, lolla rossa, butter lettuce, all finished with a balsamic vinaigrette, round out this refreshing dish. You’ll also discover fresh local Dungeness crab, provided by Anacortes local business Native Catch. Find it in many classic dishes such as Dungeness Crab Cakes as well as Dungeness Crab Louie. Book your reservation today to experience 13moons and to taste these fresh new additions to the menu.
