CRAPS RULES
CRAPS
Just look in the direction of all the cheering and you’ve found the Craps (dice) table. Once associated with a group of GI’s kneeling around an army blanket, the game whose name is ascribed to one John Crappaud of New Orleans, has come a long way!
The game begins with one of the players, or the “Shooter”, rolling two dice the length of the table so they strike the opposite wall, that’s what makes it impossible for anyone to control the outcome. These are your betting options.
Pass Line—You win even money on 7 or 11, and lose on 2, 3, or 12 on the first roll, known as the “Come Out” roll. Any other number that comes up becomes the “Point”. If your point comes up again before a 7 is rolled, you win even money. Once a Pass Line bet is made, the bet cannot be picked up until a win or lose decision is reached.
Don’t Pass Line—It’s the opposite of the Pass Line. You win on 2 or 3 and lose on 7 or 11. If 12 comes up, it’s a tie and no one wins. Any other number that comes up is the point. You win if 7 is rolled before the point comes up again. The bet pays even money. Unlike a Pass Line bet, a Don’t Pass Line bet can be picked up by the player before a win or lose decision is reached.
Come—This allows you to bet the Pass Line any time after the shooter’s point is established. You take the next number rolled as your point. After that, wins and losses are determined on the same basis as a Pass Line bet.
Don’t Come—The reverse of Come. You’re betting 7 will come up before the shooter’s point.
Field—This is a one roll bet that can be made anytime. If a 3, 4, 9, 10, or 11 is rolled, you win even money. If a 2 or 12 is rolled, you’re paid double.
Any 7—This is a one roll bet that can be made anytime. When 7 comes up on the next roll of the dice, you win 5 for 1.
Any Craps—This is a one roll bet that can be made anytime. You win on 2, 3, or 12 and are paid 8 for 1.
Hard Ways—There are four hard way combinations: hard four (two 2’s), hard six (two 3’s) hard eight (two 4’s), and hard ten (two 5’s).
Example: If you bet on hard six, you win if a pair of 3’s comes up before a 7 or before an easy six (5& 1 or 4 &2). Remember, hard six and hard eight pay 10 for 1, hard four and hard ten pay 8 for 1.
Horn Bet—A one roll bet that can be made anytime. You bet on a combination of these four numbers: 2, 3, 11 and 12. If any of these numbers come up on that roll, you win. 3 and 11 pay 15 for 1, 2 and 12 pay 30 for 1.
Buy Bets—You can bet on 4, 10, 5, 9, 6 and 8 and get actual odds in exchange for a 5% charge on the amount you bet. You win when the number is rolled before a 7 after the come out roll.
Lay Bets—These are the opposite of Buy Bets, and the 5% charge is on the amount you could win, not on the amount you bet.
Place Bets—These are bets on 4, 10, 5, 9, 6 and 8. You win when your number is rolled before a 7 after the come out roll.
· 4-10 pays 9 to 5
· 5-9 pays 7 to 5
· 6-8 pays 7 to 6
Max Odds—$500
