For those just starting out or looking to improve their game, we’ve compiled a list of tips and tricks to help you out on your next visit to Swinomish Golf Links.
1. Stretch it out!
Before your round, it is crucial that your body is nice and loose. This can help your swing and prevent injuries. One way to ensure this is with five to 15 minutes of light activity, such as taking a brisk walk and stretching. By warming your body up before you begin your game, you are more likely to have a fluid, full swing — which can benefit your performance!
2. Fix your grip!
The accuracy of your shots depends greatly on your left-hand placement (for right-handed players). You can’t swing a club effectively without a proper grip! Bad habits, like incorrect grips, are often picked up in a golfer’s early playing days and can stick around. Ideally, you want a neutral grip, as an overly weak or one too strong will lead to inconsistent shots.
3. Reflect, reflect, reflect!
If you’re like the majority of golfers and not spending time reflecting on your game afterwards, maybe you should reconsider! One of the most effective tactics is reflecting upon your misses and where most of your shots were dropped. By doing so, you’ll be able to build a strategy that works for you!
4. Practice makes perfect!
When first starting out or looking to improve your swing, you may find visiting a driving range to be extremely helpful! Here you will be able to hit as many balls as you’d like without having to worry about finding them afterwards, so you can focus on just one skill at a time. Over at our Performance Center, we have an indoor simulator to perfect your technique!
5. Take lessons!
It’s best to learn the proper techniques straight away so there’s no unlearning to do later on! Sometimes teaching yourself to play can lead to forming negative and occasionally irreversible habits. That is why we strongly recommend taking lessons from an expert! Here at Swinomish Golf Links, we offer a large variety of private and group lessons from our friendly and knowledgeable team.
