In the 1989 sequel to Back to the Future, the year 2015 was depicted as a futuristic feast for the eyes, complete with flying cars and digitally-enhanced clothing. Unfortunately, most of the film’s predictions are still a long way off—but the movie did accurately predict one thing: We still love the 1980s!
This New Year’s Eve, make like Marty McFly and go back in time at Swinomish Casino & Lodge’s Back to the 80’s New Year’s Eve bash. But before the party gets started, let’s look back on some predictions that never quite came true.
Flying Cars, Winning Cubs
Though Back to the Future Part II did get some things right (flat screen TVs, video chatting, and drones, most notably), the movie also depicted some technology that we haven’t quite managed to perfect yet, including:
●Hover boards
●Self-lacing shoes
●Fax machines in phone booths
●Phone booths, period
BTTFII did come pretty close with one prediction, though: That the Cubs would win the World Series! They didn’t make it all the way, but the team sure did surprise people by even making it to the playoffs.
Other predictions, like that double neckties would become fashionable and that the United States would have a female president still haven’t quite come true, but there’s still time…next year?
Prediction: NYE at Swinomish Will Be a Blast (from the Past)
Though it’s always hard to guess what the future will bring, here’s one prediction you can bet on: An 80’s-themed New Year’s Eve bash at Swinomish will be a great time!
With live music, cash prizes, yearlong slot and lodge packages, fun giveaways, and a midnight toast, the Back to the 80’s party will have everything you need to welcome the new year in style. Wear your favorite period garb (acid-washed everything!), book a suite for the night, then come early and enter to win barrel drawings for free game play!
Don’t worry about being in the right place when the countdown starts (or whether or not you’ve got enough plutonium to get back to the future)—this New Year’s Eve, just travel back to the days of big hair and even bigger hits with Swinomish Casino & Lodge.
